2003 CONFERENCE A SUCCESS!

Exciting things are always happening at the National Association of Railroad Referees.  The successful 2003 conference has led to requests for training, a committee to study expedited arbitration, and plans for a new resource manual for Section III Practitioners.  Special thanks to Jim Conway and Ann Kenis for their many hours of work on Program 2003.

AN ENDORSEMENT OF OUR 2003 CONFERENCE

"I wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you and the NARR officers for orchestrating such an excellent meeting and seminar in Chicago.  The speakers were every informative and each topic was substantive.  The seminar was an excellent way to share the perspectives by arbitration professionals, labor representatives and managers.  I feel I learned a great deal from the meeting.  I look forward to attending the meeting next year."---Mr. Tim Martin Hort, Manager Labor Relations and Human Resources, The Belt Railway Company of Chicago.

2004 CONFERENCE

John LaRocco has assembled a Program Committee for 2004.  For the first time representatives of the Carrier and Organizations have input in the conference design and content.  The date for next year's conference is August 27-28, 2004, with the possibility of pre-conference training (August 26) in cooperation with the Section III Committee.

GET INVOLVED WITH NARR!

Nominations for president and vice president are now open.  Your nominations should be forwarded to Bob Hicks and Barry Simon.

The president has a busy agenda: meeting with the Section III Committee and the NMB, appearances on proposed rulemaking and further discussions with BNA on a projected publication.

NARR prospers because of the dedication of its members.  At registration for the 2003 conference you were invited to join a committee and play an active role.  Contact Ann Kenis and volunteer!  Our new committees will be published in December.
