Wyndham Chicago Hotel

Chicago, Illinois

FRIDAY PROGRAM

Jim Conway, Program Chair, has recruited rail industry leaders Robert Allen, Ken Peifer, Byron Boyd, and Don Griffin to discuss the status of national handling.  Ken Gradia, Joanna Moorhead and Rick Radick will discuss railroad arbitration and the rights of third parties to full voting membership.  We will be updated on new developments at the Board by Members Duggan and Fitzmaurice.  RLA reform and what it means for the airline and railroad industries will be addressed by Harry Risetto, Esq., Jo DeRoche, Esq., Michael Abram, Esq., and Clint Miller, III, Esq.  Other topics include the use of interest arbitration in bargaining and important new rail arbitration awards.  In what could be a lively session on Friday afternoon a group of rail referees critique the partisans' presentations and vice-versa.  Participants will include Mike Lesnick, Charlie McGraw, Gene Shire and Bruce Wigent.  This dual session might be titled "Pet Peeves of the Players or Why Some Referees Don't Get Invited Back" and "The Umpire Strikes Back."

LUNCHEON SPEAKER
Peter Schaumber, Member
National Labor Relations Board

DINNER

We had planned to take you on a real railroading trip for dinner, but the transit authority had problems with our train moving during rush hour on Friday evening.  So we're back to dinner at a restaurant to be announced.

SATURDAY PROGRAM

Saturday morning will include a presentation on grievance mediation and a discussion on ethical landmines for arbitrators, the latter led by Arthur Pearlstein, General Counsel of the FMCS.  The business meeting which follows these sessions will have a full agenda and needs every member's participation, so plan on attending.

The complete program will be posted on the website and sent by regular mail to all members.  Please mark your calendars now!
